TCU Baseball Head Coach Jim Schlossnagle announced the signing of eight athletes to National Letters of Intent. Six of the eight signees hail from the state of Texas. The class features five high school players and three junior college transfers.

Baseball Wraps Up Fall Season With Busy Weekend

The TCU baseball team will wrap up its fall practice schedule this weekend with the final three games of their fall season. The weekend kicks off Friday at 4 p.m. at Lupton Stadium. Sunday's fall finale is slated to be Scout Day. Admission is free for all fans.

Baseball America Tabs Recruiting Class No. 9

Baseball American has tabbed the TCU Baseball team's 2008 recruiting class as the ninth-best in the nation. This marks the second time in school history that the Horned Frogs have garnered a top-10 recruiting class, the other coming in 2004 when the Frogs hauled in the third-best class in the nation.

Baseball Set for Exhibition Against UTA Saturday

The TCU Horned Frog baseball team is set to hold a exhibition game against UT-Arlington Saturday morning at Lupton Stadium. The teams are slated to play an 18-inning game beginning at 9 a.m. Admission is free.

Frog Baseball Announces 2009 Schedule

The TCU Baseball team released its 2009 schedule Tuesday morning. The 55-game slate features 27 home games, 15 contests against NCAA tournament teams and seven against Super Regional participants. The Frogs will also host the 2009 MWC Postseason Tournament for the second consecutive year.

The latest accolade to come his way is the distinction of the Carolina League's Pitcher of the Year. The right-handed pitcher recently returned from the Beijing Olympics with a bronze medal.

A number of Horned Frog baseball players wrapped up successful summer campaigns and have returned to campus eager to start a new season. The three-time defending Mountain West Conference baseball team returns 22 members from last season and welcomes 12 newcomers, 11 of which are freshmen.

Arrieta propels Team USA To 9-1 win over China

Former TCU baseball All-America Jake Arrieta helped key Team USA to a 9-1 victory over China in the Beijing Olympics Monday morning. The right-hander tossed six scoreless innings to earn his first win in Beijing. The win helped Team USA improve to 3-2 in round-robin play.

Espineli earns promotion to the Majors

Five days after being named to the 2008 USA Baseball roster for the Beijing Olympics, Eugene Espineli earned his first call-up to the major leagues when he was promoted from Triple-A Fresno to San Francisco. Espineli was called up Saturday night and made his big league debut Sunday afternoon. He pitched a perfect eighth inning and tallied one strikeout.

Former TCU All-American Jake Arrieta was selected to the United States Olympic team that will participate in the 2008 Beijing Olympics. Joining Arrieta on the team is another former Frog in Eugene Espineli. The pair are the lone Horned Frogs to represent the United States in Beijing bringing TCU's representation to six athletes at the Olympics, joining four former TCU track stars. TCU is the only school with two former players on the squad.

Cashner signs with Cubs

Andrew Cashner, the 19th overall pick in the 2008 MLB Draft, has inked a contract with the Chicago Cubs. He becomes the third Horned Frog to sign a professional contract this summer. As part of the deal, the right-handed pitcher receives an invitation to the 2009 big league Spring Training camp in 2009.
